An all-around yacht center
An all-around yacht center
Jachtcenter Elburg is the full-service water sports center of the Netherlands. Located on the beautiful Randmeren, it is an ideal base to several nearby water sports areas in the Netherlands including the Randmeren, the IJsselmeer, the Hanze cities with connections to the river area, Giethoorn and Friesland.
Jachtcenter Elburg’s logo has been well thought out and we are very proud of it. Therefore, we would like to explain what each part of the logo stands for.
Location to enjoy
Elburg is one of the most attractive old fortified towns in the Netherlands. Because of its beautiful location on the border lakes, its authentic appearance and characteristic streets and the museum harbor full of botters, a visit to this old fishing and trading town will be very worthwhile.
From Elburg it is easy for you to visit other towns such as Harderwijk or perhaps take a day trip to the nearby Walibi amusement park.
The beautiful area around the border lakes is asking to be discovered. You will come to places that are surprising with plenty of places full of shelter and natural elements. You also have opportunities to visit the Hanseatic cities or spend the night on one of the unique nature islands.
The origins
In the early 1970s the popularization of water sports started. With the publication of the book “Varend door Nederland” by Theo Kampa in 1971, the tone was set and water sports became a rapidly growing phenomenon. At that time, the local contractor Kees Kaandorp dared to build a yacht yard with a marina on a newly developed industrial estate. This marina is leased to a water sports entrepreneur during the first few years.
After a short period with this tenant, Kees Kaandorp, also due to a lack of success, takes up the scepter himself and soon manages to bring growth to it. Not long after, he decides to leave the contracting business to his brother and, together with his son Antoine, begins to devote himself entirely to the development of the yacht center.
In those early days, Kaandorp, not being a water sportsman himself, buys a motorboat with two Perkins engines with which they not only tried to become proficient in sailing, but also to practice with this boat to crane and move boats in the yard. The growth into one of the largest yachting centers in the Netherlands began.
His son Antoine, who can be found at the shipyard from the age of 14 and thus helped his father in the business from a very young age, takes over his father’s yacht center in 1993. After a lifetime of working at the yard, Antoine decides that after 40 years it has been nice and sells the yacht center in 2019 to his main tenant Elburg Yachting.

Elburg thinks sustainably
Jachtcenter Elburg considers sustainability important and therefore makes every effort to contribute positively to a better environment. In addition to the strict environmental regulations that apply on the premises, environmental effects have been offset with the installation of the large solar power plant. The sun gives us energy.
To take a step towards better sustainability, Zonnegilde installed approximately 8,000 solar panels on all roofs of Jachtcenter Elburg and Elburg Yachting, generating at least 2 million kW annually. The installed solar panels generate much more energy than our yard consumes, so the remaining energy is supplied back to the grid in the form of green power. Zonnegilde has indicated that approximately 600 households can be supplied with green power thanks to Jachtcenter Elburg.
Jachtcenter Elburg was awarded the Blue Flag for the first time on May 11, 2023. It is an important international award. Helga van Leur presented these awards on the beach of the Wassenaarse Slag.
On the grounds, we are jointly committed to a safe, sustainable and clean marina. The Blue Flag is awarded every year by the Stichting Keurmerk Milieu, Veiligheid en Kwaliteit (KMVK) (Quality Mark Foundation for the Environment, Safety and Quality). With the Blue Flag campaign in the Netherlands, the foundation involves governments, entrepreneurs and recreationists in the care for clean and safe water, beautiful nature and a healthy environment and sustainable marinas.
For you as a tourist and recreant, the Blue Flag is the international recognition and quality symbol for clean beaches with good water quality and safe and clean marinas.
The Jachtcenter Elburg team was very pleased to receive this award as the crowning glory of Jachtcenter Elburg’s sustainable developments.
